Dear Central Florida Job Seeker,
We
know you've probably been to a career fair before but what about a
'virtual' one? The concept is the same, companies set up their booths
and candidates attend with their resumes in hand. Only this time, you
visit the booth online and apply to positions just as you would on our
website. OrlandoJobs.com is
throwing its first ever online career fair through the month of April.
The theme of this career fair is Hospitality so you'll find all the
best local positions in the industry listed in this one convenient spot
all month long. Be sure to check back as new positions will be added
daily. From the comfort of your computer desk could job searching get
any easier?!
Sincerely,
Robin Doering

Tips and Tools
Succeeding on the Job Interview
So you landed the interview! It's not over just yet, although you are
one step closer to securing your place as future 'fill in the blank'.
The job interview can be challenging because you have a limited amount
of time to come across as the professional and competent candidate the
interviewer is looking for. Your main goal is to bring to life the
driving points on your resume that make you stand out from the
competition. Don't just tell the person interviewing you that you are
driven to be successful. Show them by producing real work examples that
have moved you forward in your last job. Here are some other tips on how to ace the interview:
- Arrive Early -
It's a good idea to arrive at least 15 minutes early. This will give
you time to fill out any necessary paperwork and also allow you to
observe the office environment. You should ideally drive to the
location as a trial run the night before if you don't know where it is.
- Dress to Impress - Even if
the position you are interviewing for is not a professional one, dress
as though it were. Employers will appreciate the effort. And don't wear
flip flops!
- Do your Research -
Know about the business, even if you haven't worked in the industry
before. Read everything you can that's been published about the company
including visiting their website. Ask lots of questions!
- Be Honest -
If the interviewer asks a question you are not comfortable answering,
don't make up some crazy story. Chances are it will come back to haunt
you. Stick with the facts and you'll do fine.
- Follow Up
- Be sure to get a business card from every person you speak with at
the interview, even the receptionist. Then write thank you notes. Hand
written or typed letters are best but emails are better than nothing.
Mention a specific date and time that you will follow up about the
position with a phone call if you haven't heard back after a reasonable
period of time.

Question & Answer
If you have any questions about using our website, feel free to contact us by email and we may share your question in an upcoming issue!
Q. I've applied to several jobs and never heard back. How do I know if the employer received my resume?
A.
Upon applying to a job, you will receive an automated response email
confirming that your application was successfully received. Employers
will usually respond within 1-2 weeks of getting resumes if they are
interested. If you are not receiving desired results, you might want to
try brushing up your resume. There is a Resources link at the bottom of our website which has a lot of good information to help with your career search.
